Locations

Locations enable you to control where your store & stock resides, and have more granular control on where stock is deducted from based on your customer's order location.

 

 

Location Properties

Name - The name of the building, or alias as known by you and your customers
Description - Something to help you and stuff describe this location (this is not visible to the public)
Type - The type of location (office, warehouse, or outlet)
Address - The full address of this location
Contact Information - Contact information of the person/team responsible for this location

 

Creating a Location

  1. Go to Store Settings > Locations
  2. Click on Add Location
  3. Enter a name in Location Name
  4. Select the Type of this location
  5. Enter the Address of this location
  6. Enter the Contact Details of this location
  7. Click Save

 

Updating a Location

  1. Go to Store Settings > Locations
  2. Click on the Location you'd like to update
  3. Update the necessary information
  4. Click Save

 

Deleting a Location

  1. Go to Store Settings > Locations
  2. Click on the bin icon
  3. Confirm your action

IMPORTANT

When a location is deleted, ALL the stock assigned to that location is also deleted.
This action is not reversible!

 

Assigning Stock to a Location

Products that have been assigned to a specific location will be listed in the location settings for reference.

  1. Go to Products
  2. Click on the product you want to stock
  3. Make sure Track Stock is enabled
  4. Specify the stock amount in each location
  5. Click Save

Assigning Variants to a Location

If your products use variants, you can still use Location to track stock levels.

  1. Go to Products
  2. Click on the product you want to stock
  3. Make sure Track Stock is enabled
  4. Scroll down to Variants
  5. Click on Manage Stock
  6. Specify the stock amount in each location for each variant
  7. Click Save

 

Specifying Stock Locations

Once you have your stock amounts entered, it's time to configure how the stock will be deducted during checkout.

  1. Go to Store Settings > Delivery Zones
  2. In your Delivery Zones, you'll find a new section called Locations
  3. Check the box next to the locations you want the stock to deducted from when an order happens from this delivery zone
    You may also re-order the locations to specify your first, second... priority
  4. Click Save

 

Understanding Stock Tacking by Location

To summarise our configuration let's go over how the stock is managed and deducted from each location.

  1. During checkout, the users specify their delivery address
  2. Lifeboat then selects the best delivery zone for the delivery address specified
  3. Following the order specified in the Delivery Zone settings, the stock is deducted from the first Location in the list
    1. If the first location cannot fulfil the whole order, the stock is deducted from the second location, third, etc. until the order is fulfilled

Product Variants

In Lifeboat, there is no difference between a product and a variant when it comes to stock tracking, and flows during checkout.
